Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations

Good Evening All-

It has been a while since I last posted a blog ( ok so I broke my new years resolution, but I did join the gym wahooo) Anyway, summer is slowly coming to an end and it has been such an amazing few months!

I spent 9 weeks interning for a really great company-DD's discounts (a division Ross). I spent those 9 weeks as a assistant buyer. It was such an incredible experience. I learned so much from everyone and I am so grateful for having that opportunity! I miss not being at work everyday! I also made a lot of amazing new friends along the journey.

So what to do with myself on my mini summer vacay before school starts..... Visiting the MET for the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit was on the agenda! It was so beautifully done and executed. Once you enter the exhibit you are entranced by Schiaparelli and Prada's voices in their impossible conversation. ( Click on this link to hear it and see each of the different themes,  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb1Rmxn2G5Q&feature=relmfu )
The clothes were breath taking. You can see the two designers distinct styles, but yet Miuccia was clearly influenced by Elsa!  So I snagged some photos (shhh!) Don't judge they aren't that amazing. Here is a look of all my favorites! ( I so got yelled at just for taking a photo of a quote- opps! little did he know I had taken the photo already of the garment hehehe!)

Here are some accessories - can you guess who the designer is??? I am really coveting the middle and right necklaces! So beautiful!

Although most of the clothes I enjoyed more were Schiaparelli's (loving that bow Elsa) :) “We had to be bold from the waist up. Up with the shoulders! Celebrate the bust!”
I really enjoyed Miuccia's take on fashion " I've never wanted to be an artist. I've never wanted to be called an artist. The term itself seems old-fashioned. It's a term that does not relate to modern times. And it's too confining . What I love about fashion is it's accessibility and it's democracy. Everyone wears it, and everyone relates to it."

If you haven't already seen it, GO ! GO ! GO ! GO ! It ends on August 19th- you don't want to miss it!
So, go and tell me who's aesthetic do you prefer more?

My New York Fashion Week Experience!

Last week was the start of the fashion show cycles! First stop, NEW YORK! Lucky me I was there to volunteer and get in on some of the action! I can't tell you how amazing it was to just even be in Lincoln Center and just breathe in the air of fashion! Being a show is something indescribable. It's this great big rush of high energy and passion. I decided to go through IMG itself in order to volunteer, and I got picked out of 4,000 people to apply and only 450 were chosen! YAY!
The first show I got to attend was actually a presentation!

Brandon Sun "Silent Assassins"

The clothes were beautiful, and simple but yet they had detail! Here are some of my favorite looks
I was obsessed with the fur vest and the model she was a sweetheart!

I love the sheerness of the skirt with the toughness added by the leather and fur jacket

Brandon Sun is a master with fur

This model was the first model you saw and rightfully so! Her outfit was so masculine but yet it still emoted femininity!

This skirt was so beautiful the picture doesn't do it justice, it was textured. The shape reminded me of a mermaid fin.

The second show I attended was also a presentation
Katya Lenovich
Her clothes were very pretty and different here are a few of my favorites!

and the final show of New York Fashion Week 2012 for Fall 2012 was !
Diane Von Furstenberg
Oh! The luscious colors, plunging neckline, slits and asymmetrical shapes!
     Rendezvous

AMMMMAAAAZING!

Not only were the clothes amazing but all in attendance!
From Bravo Andy,Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Anderson Cooper, Bill Cunningham, Molly Sims, Rachel Zoe, Oscar De La Renta AND! the Queen herself! Anna Wintour! + more that I probably missed!
I noticed Bravo Andy during the show taking a photo of the Silver Fox, so I check his twitter and discovered this photo

apparently I had an itch! but that person near the top security guard is me!! AWESOME!

THEN ------
When I saw the Queen herself I was nearly shaking, anyone who knows me I am obsessed with Anna Wintour! I adore her and would love to have her job any day! So when I saw her standing about 10 inches away from me I couldn't help but stare!
There I am standing mere inches away from Anna! AH! (look to the right of Mr. De La Renta's Shoulder near the little girl)

All I have to say is Brava Diane Brava! and thank you for making my volunteer experience one of the best!!! Getting to see you work was a true privilege and thank you for showing your gratitude by thanking us!

Jason Wu for Target!

Happy New Year to all !!!!!!!! ( I know a little late). Instead of making a new years resolution of going to the gym blah blah lose weight yada yada,  I decided mine would be to keep up with my blog.  So here it goes my first post of 2012!!!!! Cheers!

It's here!!!!!!!!!! Another Target collaboration! As we all remember the last one with Missoni was a HUGE success/ failure depending on how you look it! On Fashions Night Out in New York they had a pop up shop, so you can shop a little earlier. The pop up shop was supposed to be open from September 8th-10th (the collection would hit stores on Tuesday the 13th) well they didn't. Almost all the pieces sold that night.
I waited in line for 3 hours along with cousin, godmother and mom. When Tuesday came I knew my plan of action was to be up before the line hit the site because I knew exactly that it would crash the Target site. I quickly filled my cart and placed my order at 6:30am I got a conformation email and was set! Then at about 7-8am the site CRASHED! Some customers got conformations of their orders and later on got another email saying that their order was no longer available! ( I would be fuming!). Even the stores after opening sold out of the stock. I took a look today and there are a few things up to grab still. Most are children's clothes, with a few garments and accessories. Also some of it is on clearance!

Designer collaborations are one of my favorite things and I think Target is doing it right! Although Missoni was a big leap, I think it was a great idea!

The next designer collaboration to hit stores is Jason Wu!!!!!! His clothes are so beautiful and feminine. I can't wait till February 5th when the collection hits the store!

I was reading a magazine yesterday and saw this ad for the collection!

I also found a few photos of some other pieces and I love all of them! I especially want the blue printed bag shown below!

XOXO
