Reading Suzy Menkes blog about "A Sea Change in Style" is like listening to a CD of all of fashion's greatest hits!
First she touched upon Louis Vuitton- the center piece of the stage was a merry-go-round the models draped across the horses - each spin a new model came fourth and showed off their garments. It's sad to say, but this could be possibly Marc Jacobs last show for LV "The show did not break any new ground but it was charming and a sweet, clear note to end on — if, indeed, Dior calls".
Marc Jacobs is one of my favorite desginers he is so creative, his garments are so feminie, but with an edge. Last Fall I actually caught him walking out of his apartment, We had a conversation about his show that previous night- It was a day I will never forget.
The next designer Menkes spoke about was Alexander McQueen! Another one of my favorites
The best thing I did all summer was getting to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the MET! It was the second to last day I got to view this magnificent exhibition. Luckily my boyfriend of four years was nice enough to wait in line with me for almost three hours and another hour for me gawk at the all the garments. I was finished at 2am He understood that my fashion is his sports!
That day was magical, you went from room to room exploring the life and mastermind he was. I still can't believe he left us. It's been almost two years since his passing. The way I will remember him is a genius, master mind, creative, magic, unlimited, beautifully grotesque and intricate.
These are some shots I stole - I just couldn't help myself!
His prodigy Sarah Burton is doing a phenomenal job, she of course created Kate Middleton's dress for her wedding this past April.
Yesterday was actually in fact the Alexander McQueen show in Paris, France. Burton out did herself, it still feels like McQueen is still alive through his garments, and I think that's the way McQueen would have wanted.
The only different I saw from McQueen to Burton was her femininity the detail of a woman's body. "The result was a powerful affirmation of Ms. Burton’s personal vision, for she kept a strong theme and the couture quality of the work, while bringing, crucially, a female vision. Apart from a hint of edginess in a single black-patterned dress with masked head, the show had none of the masochism that lurked within the previous McQueen vision of shackles, harnesses and tortuous shoes."
"But her real skill was to bring a sense of emotion and drama to a show that was beautifully conceived and orchestrated."
Menkes continues to speak about Miu Miu and Moncler Gamme Rouge, the runways in Paris with another season of glorious fashion
So which was your favorite collection?
